What is Advocacy Training?

This practical training is designed to teach participants how to tell their story and experience with mental health in Kansas in order to advocate for mental health issues.  The outcome of this learning experience is that attendees will know how to schedule and have a sit-down, in-person meeting with a state legislator, a county commissioner, a municipal decision-maker or a community leader.   Our intention is to influence change to improve mental health not just for people and families experiencing mental health challenges, but all people living in Kansas.

Time:              8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Location:        Oxford Building, 408 SW Jackson, Topeka, KS

Parking:         North side of the building.

Please register separately for Mental Health Advocacy Day, which is March 14 at the Statehouse.

Please schedule your appointments with legislators before you come to Topeka - assistance is available through your registration.

*KMHC District Advocates are part of the KMHC Grassroots Advocacy Network.  Check out the web page to learn more about becoming a volunteer District Advocate.
